Don’t Lose Height As You Age

The bones of your spine are separated by pads called discs. As you age, these discs dry out and become smaller. However, regular exercise compresses and relaxes these discs as you move up and down. One study from Israel showed that people who exercise regularly lose only half as much height as people who never exercise — just 2.6 centimeters compared with 5.5 centimeters. If you have not already started exercising to prevent heart attacks, diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and loss of mental function, and just to keep you feeling good, you should exercise to help you stand taller as you age.

When it comes to preventing osteoporosis, it matters little what you did when you were young, it’s what you do now that counts. A study from Malmo University in Sweden shows that men who were highly competitive soccer players in their youth and then gave up active sports did not have bigger and stronger bones and did not have fewer bone fractures than people who never exercised at all. On the other hand, people who did not exercise in their youth, but started and continued their exercise programs into later life did have larger and stronger bones.

In spite of this study, you still should start exercising when you are young. Good habits are usually developed when you are young. People who start exercising at an early age usually benefit by learning how to exercise. They take a harder workout on one day, followed by easy workouts until their muscle soreness disappears and they learn to take off when their muscles are sore.

Brain Stem Injury

The Brain Stem is a part of the brain located beneath the cerebrum and in front of the cerebellum. It connects the spinal cord to the rest of the brain. The brain stem controls involuntary muscles such as the stomach and the heart. The brain stem also acts as a relay station between the brain and the rest of the body.

Since the brain stem controls several functions, it is rarely the only part of the brain that is affected when it is injured. To lose weight, you need to boost your metabolism with interval cardio exercise and strength training. That is the fastest way to burn fat and keep your calorie burning going all day. Strength and interval workouts are the best thing going today.

What are strength and interval workouts?

I call these workouts Turbulence Training. That’s my method of doing strength training and interval training in one workout, so that you get in and out of the gym whether it’s your home gym or whether it’s a commercial gym. You get your workout done in 45 minutes.

Why not slow cardio? First, who has time? Second, research shows that interval training works better for cardio. And you can’t build lean arms and sculpted abs with only cardio. You need some strength training. So that’s why strength and intervals are best - you get more results in less time.

We start with a 5-minute bodyweight warm up and then we do strength training for 20 minutes, whether it’s bodyweight training or dumbbells. Sometimes we use barbells but most people that I work
with train at home so we just use dumbbells and bodyweight exercises - no fancy equipment needed.

Then we finish with 20 minutes of interval training. We are using the most efficient and effective training methods. The stuff that gets you the most results in the least amount of time. So we are
not doing long, slow cardio sessions and we’re not doing 5 or 6 day per week bodybuilding training programs.

It’s like the old business principle - 80% of your results come from 20% of your efforts - so why do endless amounts of cardio and redundant strength training exercises?

Do only what you need to do and then get out of the gym.

Don’t live in the gym.

Physical therapy may involve walk training, range of motion, restorative therapy, therapeutic exercises, and home programs to improve strength and independence. Consider a boy named Marc. He injured his knee on a soccer game. He placed a cold icy compress to his injury immediately afterwards but the pain persisted. He visited his doctor and found out that he had torn his Anterior Cruciate Ligament, the tissue that connects the two major bones of the knees. Dark Circles:

1. Before applying concealer gently pat a light eye cream under the eye to moisturize the skin. Use your ring finger to pat on moisturizer and concealer since the skin in this area is extra delicate and the ring finger, which has the least amount of strength, is less likely to pull or tear.

2. To apply concealer use a concealer brush (similar to a lip brush with soft bristles) to get in those hard to reach areas such as the inner corners of eyes and to get concealer exactly were you want it.

3. Apply the concealer under your eyes up as far as the lash line to the inner corners. Do not apply concealer to you eyelids because your eye shadow will crease. Then, pat to blend with your ring finger.
